I’m Danielle Bukowski, a literary agent at Sterling Lord Literistic. I represent award-winning, best-selling, critically-acclaimed authors.

I represent literary fiction, upmarket fiction, genre-bending commercial, SFF and narrative nonfiction. I’m looking for novels with a unique premise and high-concept hook; stylish and sparkling prose; a clever approach to an old story; a narrative that’ll sweep me away; speak to our current moment or are set in a historical moment that resonates with our own; international settings; the weird and surreal; characters that feel real enough you’d expect to see them out in the world when you close the page. I admire ambition in scope, in research that makes the novel’s world come alive, and love to learn something new. I read widely and love to be surprised and captivated in equal measure. My favorite novels treat the plot and the writing on the line-level with equal importance.

My favorite nonfiction books expand my view of the world; provide an unconventional perspective on a conventional topic; are rigorously reported and researched; weave in personal interest; read like a novel.

Working on books that represent the world is important to me, so I am focused on working with writers historically excluded from the publishing industry.
